This late 19th century bureau bookcase is made in the style of the early 18th century. The doors, with their curved glazing bars made in compliment to the "flames" of the lower veneers, have adjustable bookshelves behind. The slope opens to reveal a very decorative interior of great movement centred around a "gothic" door flanked by a pair of columnal secret compartments. Beneath are graduated drawers with oak linings, and the whole stands on bracket feet.
