This pretty writing desk is decorated in burr walnut and has a leather surface with an inset fitted cushion stationery box with boxwood marquetry on the lid. There are drawers either side of the knee-hole and it stands on a carved walnut stretcher base and porcelain castors. The leather top replaces the original while keeping the gold tooling embellishment and the edge is finished with a simple cross-grain moulding. The kidney shape is ideal for where it might have to be placed towards the corner of a room.
