Small Amboyna Sutherland Table

DSCI4353.JPG

This attractive little table was made in England, C.1860.
It is veneered in amboyna, from the Spice Islands, a precious wood prized in its day for the fact that it glows warm gold by lamplight.
The top is edged in intricate inlay within an ebonised edge, and in stands on inlaid straight turned legs and small bracket feet with an inlaid stretcher between.
