A pair of bronze vases, after the antique, copies of the Albani and Warwick Vases.

The Albani Vase was discovered in the grounds of a villa in Rome, during a dig sponsored by Cardinal Albani. It depicts the heads of eight gods and was thought to have stood before a temple to the god Bacchus.

The Warwick Vase was excavated in Italy by Gavin Hamilton, and later owned by Lord Hamilton, who in turn left it to his nephew, the Earl of Warwick. The vase was pieced together from fragments which took a long time and was expensive. There is an apocryphal story that the restorer changed one of the eight God's heads into a portrait of Lady Hamilton with a pointed devil's ear because she had offended him. The original is in the Burrell Collection, Glasgow.
