Large pair of 19th century French bronze and gilt bronze ewers


These are a large and impressive pair of French ewers. The gilt bronze handles mounted with a satirical mask, scrolling handles topped with a bronze cherub holding a drinking vessel, the beak decorated with grape vines and leaves. The middle patinated bronze body with classical scenes of cherubs. Below a gilt acanthus section, a grapevine wreath and a bronze base.
