This wonderful secretaire box on stand is English, C.1900. It is mahogany, richly inlaid with Adam-style marquetry in satinwood, boxwood and harewood. The top hinges upwards allowing the front to fall, offering a writing surface and revealing a fitted interior with a variety of drawers, pigeonholes and compartments for a pocket watch, keys etc. It stands on a base with two further cupboards and a frieze drawer. It has its original polish and is fitted throughout with Bramah locks.
