This beautifully carved bust, in the purest Carrara marble depicts a late 19th century young lady in cosmopolitan dress, her hair in a complicated coiff and decorated with feathers. The wealth of detail is enormous, with bows and lace, ringlets and frills.
She stares ahead, her head slightly raised as though self-assured and though her costume is rich she seems not to have needed the artificial aid of jewels to enhance her good looks, having about her neck only a simple ribbon.
