This most unusual piece of furniture is English, from about 1900. It is mahogany, with panels of flame mahogany inset, the interior making generous use of amboyna. Internally, it is fitted with drawers and pigeon-holes, containing the original ledgers. The surface is fitted forsissors, letter opener, etc, either side of the original milk glass inkwell. The calendar is also the original, as is the built in light fixture with its silk shade.
It has external drawers either side and simple cupboards beneath.
