This beautifully decorated desk is English, C.1890. It is mahogany, with original paintwork, and presents an arrangement of drawers and pigeonholes around a tooled leather writing surface, all above a run of narrow drawers ans elegant tapered legs and original castors.
The original of this type of desk was made for the Prince Regent, later George IV, for his residence, Carlton House, now demolished.
