This most singular object is Victorian, C. 1870, from Australia.
It is a three vase epergne mounted about a carved ostrich egg.
The egg is relief carved with the images of an emu and a kangaroo, and there are small bronze representations of the same standing on the base. The egg is raised on a fern and the vases are stripped opaline glass.
All on an ebonised base with a velvet ground.
