This wonderful creation is the work of Raimond of Paris. It is a tour de force of marquetry, a complicated pattern of thuyawood, kingwod and purpleheart, inlaid with brass and mother of pearl.

These charming lamp bases are bronze, on marble drums.
They present a chubby little boy and girl skating, one leg held out behind and cloak flying. They are French, from the end of the 19th century.
