This wonderful tour-de-force of marquetry was created in France, C.1860. The front depicts two birds contemplating the fate of a juicy looking cicada which stands on the branch between them.

This wonderful secretaire box on stand is English, C.1900. It is mahogany, richly inlaid with Adam-style marquetry in satinwood, boxwood and harewood.

Burr walnut Davenport

This burr walnut davenport was made in England C.1860. It is inlaid throughout with delicate boxwood marquetry. The upper doors conceal an arrangement of pigeonholes and drawers.

Burr walnut Pop-up Davenport

This large and very impressive davenport is Victorian. It is burr walnut, the pop-up being decorated with marquetry on boxwood.
